This summer has been one challenge after another, and somehow the hits just keep coming.
We were in the middle of raising funds for Cleo, who we thought had one broken leg that needed amputation. After seeing a specialist, we learned both of her front legs are broken, and she now faces multiple surgeries.
Now, we're also facing another heartbreaking emergency. Trixie is back in foster care after accidentally ingesting her topical heartworm medication during her first weekend in her adoptive home. She spent the weekend in the emergency hospital having seizures, resulting in another $4,000 in veterinary bills. Thankfully, she's improving and we're hopeful she'll be able to come home tomorrow.

Small But Mighty — Changing Lives Together
Since 2004, Pitt Friends has been working to save animals from the Pitt County Animal Shelter. Countless dogs spend many weeks at the shelter waiting for their forever homes. It is with the help and dedication of volunteers, that we're able to make that wait more comfortable in foster homes while receiving medical care. Without them, many of the dogs may never know life outside the shelter. Additionally, as fosters are adopted, we're able to pull another dog in need into our care. It's a win-win situation.

Toby (Tobias) came into the rescue with a serious skin infection and massive bald spots. It took a few weeks to conquer the skin issues, house train, and rebuild his confidence, but he has been adopted into an amazing home with a beagle brother, also named Toby

Lola come to us mangy and emaciated. With some TLC and a few medicated baths she is living her best life with her new mom
Frannie’s Brave New Beginning 💜
Frannie came into our rescue very scared and broken. After having her leg amputated she lived in a bathroom corner unsure of humans. Months of rehab and living with her foster mom and foster siblings she started to show her glowing personality. Frannie was adopted to a amazing couple with fur siblings and is living her best life.
From Hurt Puppy to Beloved Protector 🌸
Ali (Now Harper) came in to the rescue as a baby with urine chemical burns on her feet. She has been adopted into an amazing home that took one some unexpected medical challenges including eye surgery, stomach surgery, then ACL surgery that challenged their budget, but they loved her enough to cover them. She is very loved and now protecting their new baby daughter.
